Signs Of Transmission Trouble

The transmission in your car is, without a doubt, its most complex component. With over 800 individual pieces, the part of your car that changes gears as you drive is as intricate as it is necessary. When compared to other parts of your vehicle, however, the transmission needs relatively little attention over the life of a vehicle. So how do you know if your transmission is in trouble? Your car has a few ways of little you know something is awry.

Check Engine Light

You car’s check engine light is far from the only part of the vehicle that, when malfunctioning, will activate your check engine light, but it is definitely one of them. Coupled with the other symptoms on this list, an activated check engine light is definitely a warning that something is up with your transmission. As a side note: No matter what causes an activated check engine light, you should let us take a look as soon as it pops up.

Slipping Or Grinding

When you press your gas pedal, your transmission is working its hardest to switch gears to accommodate your rising rate of speed. During this acceleration period, your transmission is working its hardest and problems will be evident here first. If you feel a grinding of the gears as they change, or the sensation that they are slipping, your car is telling you that your transmission needs work.
